Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials sciences for analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production and operation of machines and tools.
It is one ofthe oldest and broadest engineering disciplines. The department has well qualified, experienced faculty and well equipped laboratories such as engineering mechanics Lab, Design lab, Power lab, Thermal engineering lab, Refrigeration and air conditioning lab, Automobile lab, Fluid Mechanics lab, Mechanical Measurement and Control lab, Strength of Material lab, Theory of Machine lab, etc.
Mechanical engineers research, develop, design, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices. Mechanical engineers work in many industries and their work varies by industry and function. Some specialize in energy system; applied mechanics; automotive design; manufacturing; materials; plan engineering and maintenance; pressure vessels and piping; and heating, refrigeration, and air- conditioning systems.
